Currency Exchange
Why should I use a foreign exchange company for international money transfers rather than my bank?
With all the other considerations of a buying an overseas property, buyers often forget about the currency transfer. Typically they use their banks unaware that they can get access to corporate rates of exchange by using a Foreign Currency Broker. It doesn't matter if you are sending money tomorrow or next year (especially in the case of off plan purchases), deciding how and who should do it is essential if funds are not to be wasted on unnecessary bank charges
Currency transfer brokers benefit buyers because of their indepth knowledge of the market and by achieving better rates as they move large volumes on a daily basis. For transfers in the far future they can also suggest how much better (or worse) off you would be if you carried out the move today or in several months. The savings can be significant, as much as 4-5% in many cases. 5% doesn't sound a lot but this means if you were changing £100,000 into Euros, for example, you'd pay around £5,000 more if you used a bank.
Don't let the banks cash in! Shop around and compare the rates given by your bank with an established currency broker.
